This project aims at commemorating the memories and legacies of Wu Mengchao (a respected Chinese doctor who has passed away) within a digitalized, interactive space. This initiative makes a significant shift from traditional forms of commemoration, leveraging the vast potential of the virtual space and cutting-edge technology to craft a realm where the essence and impact of remarkable lives are not only preserved but also celebrated in a dynamic and engaging manner.
The project employs a multifaceted approach to memorialization, combining spatial narration, interactive exhibits, and a user-centric experience design to enable a deeper connection between visitors and the legacies being honored. Through detailed reconstructions of the subjects' life stories, achievements, and the broader cultural and historical contexts they inhabited, the Online Memorial Hall invites users to embark on a journey of discovery.
It is implemented on a WeChat Mini Program through cloud rendering, allowing users to experience it in a lightweight manner via their mobile phones.

A Linear Journey in the Online Memorial Hall

The project's exploration of "life," "memory," and "spatial experience" as central themes is manifested in the careful curation and design of the virtual space. Each element, from the layout of the exhibits to the choice of artifacts and the narration of stories, is thoughtfully selected to resonate with the themes of continuity, impact, and personal connection. The digital memorial hall thus becomes a bridge between the past and the present, a place where history is not merely recounted but felt and understood on a profound level. In sum, the project offers a new paradigm of how we honor and remember those who have shaped our world.

User exists in a real -time rendering that can freely control the lens. Although the user cannot move, the user can still be familiar with this new environment by rotating the lens. The entry waterway is set up for user to follow the more familiar symmetrical structure in commemorative buildings, and to strengthen the target of the end through one-point perspective view.
14280, as the number of the surgery that he has completed in his life, is designed as different statues in the first room, accompanied by different scenes telling the story of the difficulties he conquerd. A set of shader is designed to make the whole scene present a sense of both clear details and a sense of ethereal time, indicating that the memory is flowing, but will never fade.
After experiencing two linear space, the space is designed for audience to thake a breathe and stay. Therefore, the space is designed as a centralized circular exhibition hall for people to meet, talk and listen. (like the theatre)
It mainly talks about Wu Mengchao's various contributions to his hometown. With the feeling of being in the KID A MNESIA EXHIBIT, I hope that this chapter will bring people a trace of time travel, a feeling of memories hitting the brain. Users are not expected to stay here for a long time or read every text and picture, but expected to accumulate an emotion that will be released when they leave this chapter.
