Guhua Shopping Mall Renovation
Project Type | Commercial |
Year | 2020 |
Location | Archi-Union Architects, Shanghai |
Client | China Poly Group |
This project is part of the Shanghai "Nanqiao Yuan" urban renewal initiative, represents a shift from developmental reconstruction to operational symbiosis, focusing on maximizing public benefit through sustainable urban renewal practices. Located in Fengxian District's heart, the project aims to reactivate the area by leveraging its historical context and natural landscapes.

The renovation seeks to create a "park-style commercial promenade district" that integrates high-quality commerce, premium banquet facilities, and unique waterfront businesses, fostering a blend of cultural tourism and commercial vitality. Targeting a diverse clientele, including local residents, young locals, and tourists, the project emphasizes an "urban micro-vacation" experience, combining natural beauty, historical heritage, and modern amenities. Scheduled for completion in 2024, the Guhua project will transform Fengxian into a vibrant urban hub, enhancing the district's livability and appeal while adhering to principles of cultural preservation and ecological sustainability. As an intern, I was involved in the first through third phases of the Guhua Shopping Mall renovation project, which included initial concept development and the deepening of the design process.
